Welcome to Helse Vest RHF!

Patients in Western Norway may receive care both in public hospitals and in private hospitals, institutions and specialist practices with which Helse Vest has agreements. You must be referred by your doctor in order to be seen by the specialist health service.

Patients are entitled to have a say in their treatment and care. You have the right to choose your hospital, and you are entitled to an assessment of your condition within 30 working days. If serious illness is suspected, the assessment must be made sooner.

Co-operation in a number of areas is crucial in order for the regional health authority to reach its goals. Helse Vest has a particular responsibility for overseeing the government's Co-ordination Reform. One key area in this respect is patient safety.
